This book goes into the history of Chessie and how she became a cultural phenomenon. One interesting thing I learned from the book was that Chessie was not based on an actual cat, but an artists' vision. However this did not stop fans from sending fan-mail to the C&O, asking about her! Several famous illustrations of Chessie, Peake, and her "famous kittens" are faithfully reproduced in the book. This book should appeal to those interested in railroad or advertising history, nostalgia, or simply fans of one cute (imaginary) cat!
