Description: Charming mid 1800s French Porcelain Figural Group Courting Scene Couple and Dog Presented is a very charming antique French porcelain figural group, depicting a man, woman, and dog. This piece dates to around the mid 1800s. The figurine shows the happy young couple lounging around a wooden fence, dressed in very colorful and lively garb. Nearby is a shaggy little gray dog, standing up begging for a treat, which the man is holding out in one hand. The figures are very detailed and well sculpted, making this a very dynamic and appealing piece. This piece is in good overall condition, though there are some repairs. The most visible we point out in the tenth photo, where the woman's arm was broken and restored, leaving the cracks which we point out and some subtler variations in the color of the paint. Her opposite arm has likewise been restored, leaving some discoloration. The woman's head has been broken and repaired at the neck, leaving some discoloration in the paint restoration and some little chips to the rose at her neckline. One tendril of the branch going through the wooden fence has also been restored. Please view all photos full size and let them guide your judgment, as we do our best to show the piece exactly as it is. The restorations on the piece are fairly well done and are themselves quite old, possibly antique. This piece is signed on the underside with two pseudomarks in underglaze blue, one that looks like the Sevres mark. The figurine measures about 8 x 5 1/4 x 8 1/4 inches, LxWxH. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
