He learned about architecture there, then continued his studies in the studio of Félix Duban at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.Precursor of Viollet-le-Duc, César Daly worked as a diocesan architect, from 1843 to 1877, to the restoration of the Sainte-Cécile cathedral in Albi. He was appointed member of the Commission on Religious Arts and Buildings in 1848.Phalansterian committed to the socio-economic theses of Charles Fourier, In 1848 he founded a short-lived Society of Decorative and Industrial Artists and, the same year, but without success, ran for the National Constituent Assembly.
