That is the question. This is a very good piece of lovely Cerrillos turquoise. The nugget comes from the old stash of Jeff Storey, a southwest artist who is known for his amazing mixed media sculptures, paintings and other creations. Jeff owned and operated a gallery in Cripple Creek for many years where he collected turquoise and incorporated it into his works of art. This nugget has wonderful green color and a natural nugget appearance of turquoise in matrix. The turquoise is natural; no treatment, no enhancement. It was worked a little bit and the turquoise nodules are polished. There are more than 200 dig sites around Cerrillos; some ancient, some not. We do not have any information from Jeff about the actual site where it was collected. The turquoise was photographed dry.
