The hymns are by Mrs. Barbauld. The author details how Jesus and his disciples went to Jerusalem to join in the celebration of the Passover and make ready for the feast. Jesus was about to offer himself in sacrifice for the whole world. The author quotes how Jesus when took bread and blessed it and presented the cup to drink of it “for this is my blood of the new covenant”.During the celebration of the service the Breaking of the Bread and the Pouring of the Wine is repeated and bread and wine was taken round to the Congregation with portions of Scripture printed. The Service is followed with another hymn.This is a rare inscribed copy of the first printing and would be a worthy addition to your reference library.The pamphlet measures 5 ½ x 9 inches, sewn binding, printed wrappers, 16 pages, cover pages chipped at extremities, short closed tears at crown and foot of spine, rear cover has a chip with loss at lower left, otherwise in good condition, sewn binding is tight and intact, bright and clean internally, odor free.
