The legendary cast is composed mainly of singers who performed the opera with the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company and the recording was made under the supervision of Rupert D’Oyly Carte. This is one of the early D’Oyle Carte sets produced using electric recording technology. The transfer by J. C. Lockwood/78s2CD was made from an exceptionally fine set of records that came from a private collection. As a result, the sound quality of the transfer is unsurpassed. Included is a booklet of liner notes. This set also includes the HMV abridged 1933 recording of The Sorcerer. This 2 CD set comes from a non-smoking household and is in very excellent condition.
