Description: I put a 5 pound weight on this and it shows 5 and a 1/2 pounds. So it is off by 8 oz. The same when I put a 15 pound dumbbell on it, and it shows 15 and a 1/2 pounds, so it's obviously 8 oz off. I really don't see this as much of a problem, because when I weigh something on it I just subtract 8 ounces and I have an accurate weight. It does have minor scuffs and scratches and dings and dents especially around the dial, which all should be irrelevant to its function. It measures at its highest point at approximately 10 and 3/4 inches. The platform measures approximately 10 and a quarter by 10 and a quarter. It is held on by lock washers and nuts. Please check pictures as they are part of the description. I just recently took the sides off to see if I could figure out how it works and how it might be adjusted. I was unable to figure out how to adjust it, but I did clean it very well , and added some pictures to show this. Maybe somebody can look at the inner working Springs and gears and figure out how to adjust it ,but I cannot. I recycle boxes and packaging materials.
