Description: Here is a real oldie! It is a Professional Model catcher's mitt, from back in the day when the catcher would use his throwing hand to trap the ball in the mitt! It is a Fred Sullivan model and has the number C13 on it. The manufacturer is identified as BLS Leather Goods Corp. of Buffalo, New York. Has "Genuine Horsehide Greased Palm" and "Molded Model" along with a facsimile Fred Sullivan signature. Not sure of exactly when this was made, but according to the information I found on the net, this may refer to Haywood Sullivan, who was a catcher in the sixties for the Red Sox and the Kansas City A's, and later was involved in the front office of the Boston Red Sox. Then again, the MLBPA site lists a half dozen Sullvans who played as catchers in the Major Leagues, NONE of whom were legally known as "Fred", so who knows! I have had this since the early 1970's when my grandfather gave it to me, and it was old then, so I would not place it any later than mid sixties and probably much earlier! I've photographed the glove from many angles, so you can get a good look at it. The last 2 pictures show it with my hand in the glove (it fits an adult comfortably). The last photo shows that the 2nd finger from the left has some stitching coming loose. This has been sitting in storage for 40+ years! Priced to sell, with only actual cost of USPS Ground Advantage or Priority shipping charged!
