Description: Casket of Charles Edward "C. E." Bobeau (also spelled Bobo) Rathdrum, Idaho Note: The colored remastered version does not come with the Card. Bobo & Sons Rathdrum, Idaho Additional History: Charles Edward "C. E." Bobeau (also spelled Bobo), was born 30 November 1858, in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. He arrived in Rathdrum, Idaho, around 1904, where he worked as a blacksmith. By about 1909, Bobo entered the undertaking business, apparently on a part-time basis, and by early 1911, he went into business full time as an undertaker and also operated a furniture store. In 1915, Bobo went to Newport, Washington, to open a branch office of his undertaking business, but in 1917, Bobo sold his Rathdrum undertaking parlor and apparently operated exclusively in Newport. In 1919, Bobo bought the Rathdrum undertaking business back, but then in March 1920, he and his son abruptly moved to Leavenworth, Washington, where they briefly operated an undertaking business. In May 1920, Bobo and son moved to Orofino, Idaho, where they bought an existing undertaking business. This business was in operation until at least 1922. In about 1924, Bobo retired and moved to Auburn, Washington, where he died on September 17, 1936. Bobo is buried in the Evergreen-Washelli Memorial Park in Seattle, Washington. To learn further about Bobo's life, please see the attached 10 page report. He really did live an interest life. We now have this postcard to remember him by.
