Description: Rare Carlton Ware Persian Pattern Octagonal Signed Vase, England circa 1925. The vase has Powder Blue ground with a distinct mottled effect. Superbly hand painted with exotic pattern & raised enamel decoration. The main element of the PERSIAN pattern depicts a pavilion in an exotic garden. In the center of the pavilion, a sultan sits cross-legged on a peacock throne. On the carpet before him, two musicians play their instruments and two standing figures ply bowls of fruits. The pattern, by Enoch Boulton, is likely to have been inspired or perhaps copied from a Persian manuscript. The vase interior has lustre iridescent creamy ground. The bottom of the vase has wide border with gold scroll-work called Persian Border. The top interior border is adorned with another gold pattern called Persian Border Bead. The vase is marked with a special back-stamp printed in gold as shown on last 2 images.
