Description: Antique CARL THIEME Hand Painted Porcelain Figure POTSCHAPPEL,SAXONY, UNDERGLAZE BLUE MARKS 19TH/20TH CENTURY This is a family heirloom that has been in our family since the late 1800's. Originally owned by my great grandmother who was married to a prominent German business man and who lived in the early 1920s in a fancy apartment along Central Park in NYC.She had this statue and another very similar. Through research, the base mark indicates it is a Carl Thieme, attributed to Potschappel. Elaborately dressed Victorian lady with ruffled dress, standing on an oval base with gold painted accents. The underside is marked with a blue five pointed crown over "N" mark. There are 2 impressed numbers on the base as well - 38 and 29. Figure measures 7"L x 4"W x 9" high. The neck was cracked and has been unprofessionally repaired. There are some small petal chips in the flowers in the woman's hair and a tiny base chip along the edge.
