Description: Five images of this 108-year-old book are shown below; it is the first printing of the author's second book with "(3'16)" at the bottom of the first advertising page (i.e., please see image #5 below). This book is: Chicago Poems, by Carl Sandburg, Published by Henry Holt and Company, 1916, first edition. This is the first printing with "Copyright, 1916...Published April, 1916" on the copyright page, with "1916" on the title page, and with the above-mentioned (3'16) at the bottom of the first advertising page. This book measures 7 1/2" x 5" and is 183 pages followed by two advertising pages. It is in Good-Very Good condition only with fading and wear to the binding, with a bookstore's small label at the bottom spine corner of the rear endpaper, with some very occasional foxing, with a vertical fold to three preliminary pages, with the front interior hinge netting visible at the endpapers, and with a small checkmark in soft pencil at the beginning of occasional poems. There is no former-owner's bookplate inside, no writing inside (except the above-mentioned checkmarks), and there are no loose pages.
