Other material is available.Born Menny Hill House, nine miles from Aberdeen in 1937, the younger son of James Ramsay, whose wife was a member of the Duff family. His parents had four sons and four daughters and Captain Ramsay outlived all of them.During the Crimean war he joined the Highland Light Infantry, a kilted militia regiment as ensign. A year later he was promoted lieutenant, and in 1860 promoted captain by the Earl of Fife. When Captain Ramsay went to Australia gold prospecting, his family lived at Bushey House, Herts and then removed to Princess Terrace, London which was afterwards sold to the Duchess of St Albans. His first wife was Mrs Holloway of Marchwood Park, Southampton. They purchased Stargrove, East Woodhay, a country mansion near Newbury On returning from Naples and Venice they moved to Slough and Windsor for the last over 30 years. He married Mrs E.A. Russell of Langley Villas, Windsor Road, Slough at Slough Registry Office around 8/06/1912. Will be mailed securely from France at exact mailing cost.
