II only) by Captain Frederick Marryat published in 1838 by Charles Lane Captain Frederick Marryat (1792-1848) was a Royal Navy officer and a novelist.He is noted today as an early pioneer of nautical fiction, most esecially for his novel Mr Midshipman Easy (1836). Marryat is also remembered for his children's novel The Children of the New Forest (1847), and for a widely used system of maritime flag signaling known as Marryat's Code. NOTE: his last name is sometimes spelledas " Marryatt ". This is volume two only, from a three volume set. The first edition was published in 1835, three years before this book was printed. This is a small hardback book, with a leather binding, 5.2" by 3.2", 209 pages. There is some very old and faint handwriting in pencil, giving the name of a previous owneron one of the front endpages. The name looks to be " Ruth A. Olmstead ". The book is in fair condition, with the spine completely exposed, and the front cover somewhat loose, albeit still attached. There is some light browning and moderate foxing of the pages.
