Date of making and event it was issued for, unknown. Note: Provenance states it was taken from an original that was 47 x 60. However this print for sale is 8" x 10" with frame 12.25" x 14.25". Label reads: courtesy of (his son) H. Theodore Hallman JR. (aka Ted Hallman who is an immensely talented artist/weaver in his own right). This print is not artist signed. All the provenance is on the back label as shown. A canvas print is not an original oil painting, but a reproduction of Hallman's much larger oil painting, authorized by his son. If you look between the stretcher and frame you will see an even paint edge, indicating a print on canvas (see photo 6). Outstanding custom framing with a linen liner and rustic frame with metal brackets to adjust and remove etc. Lovely colorful yellow green leaves on tree branches to enhance any decor and for the collector of his works. About the artist: ( 1904-1999 ) From 1950 to 1970 he served as professor of fine arts at West Chester State University where he became the department head.He began art lessons at the age of 16 with Walter Baum, Sellersville, and attended the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, where he earned a degree in illustration and studied with master illustrator, N.C. Wyeth.He studied for three months in France and Italy on scholarships. Upon his return from Europe, he became the first principal of Franconia Consolidated School. In his early years as an artist, he illustrated stories for several publishers including the Curtis Publishing Co., Philadelphia.His interest in teaching led him back to college. He attended the Tyler School of Fine Arts, where he earned a degree in education, and a master’s degree in painting. During his life Hallman maintained a studio in his home in Souderton. He is known for his local landscapes, portraits of prominent people and church murals. A ten by twenty foot mural exists in St. John's Lutheran Church, Ridge Valley.He also painted a series of historical landscapes for the centennial of Union National Bank, Souderton.His one-man shows included; The Woodmere Art Gallery, Chestnut Hill, and the Chester County Art Association, West Chester. He has exhibited works at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia, the Phillips Mill Gallery, New Hope, and the New York World’s Fair.
