Description: CANE CHOLLA ~CHOLLA SPINOSIOR~ Drought Tolerant Hardy Opuntia Cactus Plant About the Item Cane Cholla (Opuntia spinosior) This is an interesting variety of cholla cactus native to Arizona, New Mexico, and the Big Bend Area of Texas. It is called Cane Cactus due to the early Americans making walking canes out of the dead trunks. It is an upright grower and may get from 7-8 ft. tall. Different plants also produce several different colors of flowers, however most common is purple. It is made up of individual joints from 4-8" long that may also be dried for use as orchid or tillandsia mounts. It's cold hardy to zone 6 and has survived here to -10 F degrees. This would make a great cactus garden specimen in a background situation or as an accent plant in full sun. The item up for bid is an easy-to-root cutting about 5-6" long.
