Canada 2008 Purple Saxifrage $350 1.125 Troy Oz 99.999% Pure 5 9s Gold FULL OGP

Description: In Stock and Ready for Immediate Shipment! Long SOLD OUT at the Royal Canadian Mint! Beauty, purity and rarity—the world’s purest (.99999 fine) gold coin is the perfect storm of numismatic and precious metals investments! Saxifrage—don't you just love the way that word rolls off your tongue? The purple saxifrage of the Great White North is as enchanting to see in person as it is to say—but it's even more lovely to own on this extraordinary and nearly perfectly pure gold gem! At first glance, the harsh Arctic tundra may seem barren, but every spring, one of the world's great botanical beauties makes a stunning, yet short-lived appearance there. It is the purple saxifrage (Saxifraga oppositifolia), also known as French-knot moss or aupilaktunnguat in Inuktitut (the aboriginal language of the Inuit of Nunavut, Canada's newest territory, which adopted this flower as its floral emblem on May 1, 2000). Try to say that five times fast; unlike "saxifrage", aupilaktunnguat is a real tongue-twister! Without its blooms, the purple saxifrage looks decidedly understated; one would hardly guess this brownish mat growing in the rocks could ever produce such gorgeous, star-shaped flowers. But it does, and so every year a great carpet of purple blooms will cover exposed ridges and hilltops as if to defy the bleakness of the barren north. The blossoms are only about half an inch wide, but they look larger against the tiny, scale-like pairs of overlapping grey-green leaves. The purple saxifrage is a popular plant in alpine gardens. Though it is difficult to grow in warm climates, it thrives in the frigid cold, and in fact grows as far north as northern Greenland, north of 83° latitude, making it the most northerly plant location in the world! It is one of the very first to bloom in northern climes, continuing to flower the whole summer in localities where the snow melts later. Interestingly, Nunavut doesn't have an official tree for the territory, at least not yet—probably because most if not all of the territory lies north of the Arctic Circle timberline or tree line! Investment Note Known as the “5 9s” gold coins because of their purity (.99999 fine), each coin in this series features one of the official provincial or territorial flowers of the great nation of Canada. These incredible proof coins have seen an incredible increase in value, and so are now very difficult to find. The factors of design beauty, low mintage, rarity, proof finish, purity, and weight (more than 1.1 troy ounces of gold) combine to make the perfect storm of numismatic investments. Don't miss out, make this golden investment piece yours today! Technology Note The marvelous refining technology of the Royal Canadian Mint has brought us the world’s purest gold coin, in a purity (99.999%) that puts other large gold coins to shame! In addition, several different types of proof finish are used to enhance the beauty of the design. This is the purest gold coin ever minted! Obverse The Purple Saxifrage, the official territorial flower of Nunavut. A large bouquet of the delicate blossoms is depicted, with different degrees of proof finish to heighten the incredible vignette. There are no legends on the obverse, to enhance the beauty of the design. Reverse Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, in profile facing right. This portrait, the fourth effigy of the queen to appear on Canadian Coinage, was executed by the artist Susanna Blunt. The denomination 350 DOLLARS, the purity .99999 FINE GOLD, the legend ELIZABETH II D. G. REGINA ("Elizabeth II, Queen by the Grace of God") and the date of issue also appear. Packaging The coin is encapsulated inside a maroon, clamshell-style presentation case, lined with black velvet and protected by a black outer sleeve. An individually-numbered certificate of authenticity is included.
