Exterior surface has some normal polymerization stains, but that's of no consequence since it's also a desired effect on things like cast iron (seasoning). Personally, I do not clean anodized pots in a Dishwasher (too chemically harsh), so only hand-wash anodized stuff. There is a slight dent on the rim of the lid. I choose not to try to bang on it. You can if you wish. One picture shows a metal ruler across the bottom. There is very slight wave, but that should not be an issue, especially with gas-flame stoves or any oven.
