Description: For bid is an original circa 1850's or 1860's AMBROTYPE cased image photograph portrait of a very husky man, a big BEAR of a man with a bushy neckbeard! This man is seriously interesting-looking! Dark portrait of the man wearing a dark suit and dark or black silk thread vest! The man's eyes make me think he is a dark-haired man of Norwegian descent. Lovely, dark image with some silver tarnish around the edges that is rainbow colored... This is a terrific, oval cased image in very good condition. Once the black paint can be updated, the photo's image probably won't be so odd-looking. The black paint looks like tar. The black tar or paint appears to be original to the 1850's or 1860's. It's flaking off slightly...Case is about 3 5/8 inches tall. Standard size for an ambrotype photo. Red felt on the case's cover.
