Description: Original antique, Circa 1910 Uranium UG Custard Glass Bell, missing clapper.....Souvenir of Cleveland Manufactured by the The Jefferson Glass Company....Follansbee, West Virginia. This particular custard glass piece is shown in Jefferson's WIDE BAND Pattern & is nicely decorated with a lovely hand painted pinkish red rose, green leaf accenting & red lettering of the town. It also has two bands of metallic gold paint....please see my images. Bell measures about 6 1/2 inches high & 3 1/4 inches in diameter across widest part of bottom. Good condition after 110+ years....hand-painted flower & lettering retains paint and you can see gold wear around piece. Please note: you can see a lighter "line" at midway bottom (or WAIST) of the bell. This is NOT A CRACK & does NOT pass thru the entirety of the bell, it's only seen on the outside of the bell. This is considered only a manufacturing mishap vs. a defect---sometimes caused by incorrect glass temperature (either too hot or too cold). Custard Glass: as the name implies, is more yellowish than milky & is opaque. Uranium was added as a colourant to make it pale yellow. And, YES, it glows under UV light.
