Description: Lovely circa 1980 Acoma Pueblo fine line eye dazzler pot / olla. Black on white. Hald built by Pabilta Concha (1900-1993) - Feather signature / artist's mark. Dimensions 4.5 inches high x 6 inches diameter.Interlocking star design in black and white. Thin construction. Pale pink clay body, locally sourced. An awesome pot in a classic style. Similar to works by master potters Rose and Grace Chino. The Ancestral Puebloans, particularly the Mimbres culture, developed a type of black-on-white ware that was widely produced throughout the Southwest encompassing areas that are now New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona. There were numerous variations of this tradition, including La Plata, White Mound, Lino, Kiatuthlanna, Chaco, Mesa Verde, Red Mesa and other cultures. Design motifs include parallel lines, solid triangles, interlocking scrolls, and serrated or zig-zag designs.
