Description: c1900 Superb Pair Whiting Sterling Silver Hand Chased Compotes Tazzas Presented is a superb pair of American sterling silver compotes. These compotes were made by Frank Whiting and date to around the turn of the century. The compotes are beautifully hand chased with intricate vines, leaves, and baskets of flowers. Each compote has a monogram in the center of 'EEK' in elegant interwoven script. These compotes are in great overall condition. The details of the chasing are nice and crisp. One of the compotes has a little bit of crimping around the base, which is not very noticeable and will never be seen with normal use. There are no splits, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs. Each piece is hallmarked on the underside with the maker's mark for Frank Whiting, sterling, and a retail mark for Black, Starr & Frost. Each compote is about 3 inches tall and has a diameter of about 9 7/8 inches. The total weight for the pair is 970 grams or 34.2 regular ounces. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
