Description: A group of three original fine paper-cut silhouettes, two with artist Harry Edwin's studio stamp, c1890s. Three original silhouette cut-outs, on separate cards, laid down side by side to a large album page. Two with 'Harry Edwin' studio blind-stamp at foot. Half-length portraits, of a younger and older woman, and a young man (the former facing right and latter facing left). Size: silhouettes (inc. white margins of cards) - two of 19.2cm x 12.7cm, and one of 14.5cm x 11.5cm / whole sheet - 49.5cm x 36cm / albumen photograph on verso - 28cm x 23.4cm. Minor scattered surface abrasions to cut-outs. Light foxing and creasing to album page (silhouette cards mainly unaffected). ALbumen photograph somewhat faded. Some tears to mount on left side of photograph. We discovered these three original and charming silhouette cut-outs in a photograph album compiled in the 1890s by Charles Meeking, a barrister who resided at 31 Belgrave Square in London in the late 19th century. Two bear the studio stamp of renowned silhouette artist Harry Edwin. We presume the subjects are members of the Meeking family. The photograph on the rear of the sheet we believe to be Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee procession passing through central London in the summer of 1897, with the Thomas Cook building and a throng of spectators in the background.
