A fine large folding map (80cms x 67.5cms) with Cruchleys attractive original handcolouring. Mounted on linen, and in a good condition. I have dated the map using those railways shown in Sussex: the line from Uckfield to Groombridge is shown as "in perparation." This was opened in 1868. Cruchley's maps were hugely popular with a public that was discovering travel for the first time as the railway network expanded. Size: folded, the covers measure 21cms x 12.5cms. Unfolded, the map measures approx. 80cms x 67.5cms.Condition: Professionally rebacked with a new spine. Marbled endpapers slightly marked. Map mounted on linen. One small mark top right. One or two very small holes where the folds meet, but generally this map is in a good condition. Please study my photographs.
