Total weight: 200 grams. DESCRIPTION: Unusual antique coin silver ladle by JOHN COOK, New York, New York (active c1855-1864 and 1868-c1875). Ladle with integrated strainer covering half of the bowl. Hand engraved decoration on front and back of the handle. Traces of gilt to the interior of the bowl/strainer. Hand crafted. Very high quality. This seems to be an uncommon ladle form. I am not sure what its intended use was. Markings: "John Cook" along with "JC" trademark. CONDITION: This ladle is in excellent original condition. No damage and no significant wear. No restoration/repairs. No monogram or removal. No dings, dents, bends, breaks, creases, splits, gouges, scuffs. No significant scratches or rubs. No edge wear to speak of. No significant loss of detail to the engraving. No signs of abuse. Condition is consistent with seldom gentle use and careful storage. On very close inspection you may detect some typical light handling wear: scattered small superficial scratches and rubs. Nothing at all significant or conspicuous.
