Description: c1840 Antique John Ridgway #8579 Gold Gilt Porcelain Dessert Service An attractive dessert service by John Ridgway made in c1840’s. Each piece has pierced border with thickly applied gold gilt in the ‘burton’ shape. It is in the Rococo Revival style which was popular during the period. There is a cobalt & yellow border, floral garlands and decorations embellished with real gold gilt. Plates measure9 & 1/4" or 23.5cm’s in diameterCondition: Overall inspection found the set to be in excellent condition. Just one round comport has four rim hairline cracks and one plate has a faint hairline to underside. No other chips, cracks, restoration or crazing.There are some light signs of use / cutlery marks. Some wear to the gilt on the rim and central motif on some pieces.Please note that antiques or vintage pieces may have minor age related scratches or wear we may not see with the naked eye. The items may not be perfect due to age but we state clearly the overall condition. We do not refund unless we have misdescribed items and our images have a supersize option which should be used on a device that you can closely inspect before purchasing.
