Description: Presented is a fabulous quality set of 5 American coin silver spoons. These spoons date to around 1830-1868. The spoons are quite sturdy and well made, with thick stems that wouldn't bend easily. Each spoon is monogrammed with 'G' in ornate script. These spoons are larger than teaspoons and smaller than servers, appropriate for use as oval soup, dessert, or place spoons. These spoons are tested and guaranteed coin/900 purity silver. Each spoon is hallmarked with the maker's mark of Philo B. Gilbert of New York, active between c1830-1868. The spoons are in great condition. There is some surface wear throughout, but only what you'd expect in pieces of this age which have not been buffed to a high finish. There are no dents, no splits, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs. Each spoon is about 7 inches long. The spoons weigh 151.8 grams or 5.3 regular ounces.
