Description: c10thC, NISHAPUR, ANTIQUE PERSIAN POTTERY BUFFWARE GREEN SLIP DECORATED BOWL Description: A colourful Nishapur pottery Islamic bowl, Persia circa 10th century.Of buffware pottery, with green glaze and manganese painted decoration, with flaring body, the interior painted with a radiating geometric chequered pattern. The outer surface with triangle motifs around the rim, leading down to a short foot and standing on an unglazed base.Provenance: Sotheby's, Lot 201 (part lot), 22 April 1999. Dimensions: Height: 6.9 cm or 2 3/4 inches Diameter: 18.4 cm or 7 1/4 inches Unpackaged weight: 410 grams Condition: In good restored condition, with scattered aged craquelure and wear and historic crack repairs and associated over painting.
