Description: c 1845 glorious hand painted, round footed dessert comport which I am attributing to Samuel Alcock & Co as the shape, finish and style correspond to other examples which I've owned. Produced in their Hill pottery, Cobridge, Staffordshire which operated from 1826-1853. Dimensions: stands 6 cm tall and has a diameter of 23.5 cm. In very good original antique condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration that I can identify, but there is age related wear to the enamel and gilding, and some fine crazing, as this piece is now 180 years old. The gently ribbed molding is wonderfully tactile and the colours remain vibrant and beautiful. There are no maker's marks that I can identify. I have listed separately a similar oval shaped comport with a primula design. Ref 1311
