At first, only the equipment changed, followed gradually by facilities such as depots and alignments. Yet, Steven's Pass, Stampede Pass, and the SP&S main line from Portland to Spokane remained, as did the lines in Oregon. In Oregon, change came less quickly. Always a BN backwater, Oregon saw relatively little variation through the life of the BN. Portland remained the heart of Burlington Northern in Oregon, with branch lines radiating south through the Willamette Valley and west to the coast. The Oregon Trunk Line remained BN's access to California via connection with the Western Pacific, and the disjointed Pendleton Branch remained in service for most of the BN's life. The Hill Lines in Oregon remained little changed throughout the Burlington Northern's existence. All pictures are of the actual item. There may be reflection from the lights in some photos.
