Hand-painted burgundy-red peacock on creamy beige background with burgundy-red accents. The cups are 2-1/8" high, with a 3" diameter top; Saucers are 5" in diameter. Based on the stamp - made before 1977. Poterie de Gruyère was created in 1930 by the potter Pierre Messerli (1906-1987) who developped the design of the crane.His workshop was located on Grand'rue in Bulle. In 1977, Antoinette Dubuis-Bosshard (1951-2003) continued the production of Gruyère pottery.Each piece of Gruyère Pottery is handcrafted with clay from central Switzerland. Decorated by hand once dry, the piece is fired a first time (called biscuit firing), then enameled and fired a second time. Each pottery is unique, the decor evolving according to the talent of the decorator who created it.
