Description: ORIGINAL BUICK GIRL BONNIE MIRRAY ADVERTISING MOVIETTE VUETTE ILLUMINATOR SIGN VINTAGE 1940’s 6 1/2 x 8 /2 Bonnie Murray Obituary MURRAY, Bonnie Bonnie Murray, of Middletown, passed away at her home Friday, January 25, 2008. At 9 months, she was humming along with her Mother as she was being rocked to sleep. At age 2-1/2, this little girl sang her first performance at the Grandmother's, Luvenia Squier, Missionary Society Meeting. At 6 years, she had already sung with the Middletown Band at Chautauqua, Ohio. With less than 2 years of study at the famous Schuster-Martin School in Cincinnati, she was introduced as the "Sweetheart of Schuster-Martin," when she performed solo dances in Cincinnati's beautiful Music Hall. When she was only 6-1/2, Bonnie gave an entire evening's performance at the Blue Ball School. Perhaps this was an early age, but singing, dancing and performing in the arts had become a way of life for Bonnie Murray, daughter of Bess Squier Murray Diver, and granddaughter of Edward Squier. Her great grandfather, Jeremiah Squier came to Blue Ball in 1834 and her grandfather, Edward Squier built and operated a blacksmith shop at the corner of Cincinnati-Dayton Road and Culbertson Road. Bonnie Murray became a versatile performer in concerts, supperclubs, conventions, radio, TV, opera, and on the musical stage. She received her musical training in California, winning a scholarship to study with the late Lotte Lehmann. She has appeared in concert at the Hollywood Bowl, Robin Hood Dell, Lewisohn Stadium, Blossom Center, and with the Boston "Pops", under such conductors as Arthur Fiedler, Eric Leinsdorf, Louis Lane, Richard Hayman and Richard Rogers. She particularly enjoyed musical comedy and has starred in MOST HAPPY FELLA, CAROUSEL, SHOWBOAT, MY FAIR LADY, THE CHOCOLATE SOLDIER and many others. Some other notable appearances have been with the NBC Opera, the San Francisco Opera, and a concert tour of England and Scotland with a command performance for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. There are no immediate survivors, only the audiences she entertained around the world.
