Description: This all-in-one kit can be used to fully refurbish your GEC/Weltron 2005 or 2007 BSR record player deck If you have attempted to fix the record player on the Weltron you know how hard it is to find a replacement for the original Japanese made cartridge; sure you can fit a new stylus but that's not a full solution to the issues associated with an unserviced deck and poor sound reproduction After nearly 50 years of use/neglect the Weltron record player will need a service! The cartridge rubber suspension (thing that holds the stylus) will have hardened and sound quality will be down and/or tinny. Tonearm weight will be greater than it should be as balance springs become tired and that extra weight/downforce will damage your records Unfortunately the Japanese made cartridge used in the Weltron is no longer available and many of the reproduction BSR cartridges on the market are not of the best quality. Our new kit replaces the old cartridge and stylus with the best quality reproduction of the old BSR cartridge available and trust me we've sampled a fair few. It comes with a genuine diamond stylus and a new mounting screw plus a custom made cover for the screw that replicates the original cover used by BSR in the 1970s (unavailable until now). In addition you get a hifi setup protractor and mini scales so you can set the cartridge position and cartridge downforce correctly to maximise the quality of the sound reproduction. We have also enhanced the cartridge bracket to ensure that the stylus is at the perfect angle for sound reproduction. Every Weltron we've worked on had an unacceptable stylus rake, even using the original cartridge, a very strange mistake by the usually very careful and innovative Weltron organisation. At the correct angle the stylus creates less wear and better sound reproduction and we've confirmed both are improved with the new cartridge set-up As an added bonus we supply a 14 page photographically illustrated "how-to" document that not only demonstrates the correct way to fit and setup the cartridge/tonearm but also how to service and relube the main moving mechanism of the record deck, namely the platter bearing, the changer cycle cam, changer spindle, trip mechanism and the platter driving idler wheel. The kit even comes with a tube of the correct grease and the light machine oil required to do the job right. You will be amazed by how well the platter spins when you have used our modern lithium based grease! The kit is targeted at a full top service which can 100% be performed with the record player in-situ in around 30 mins. In the unlikely event that your deck/player is still not working well after the 'top' service it will have to be removed from the Weltron so you can do an underdeck service. Removal is very simple and the grease and oil in our kit is all you need to fix all underdeck maintenance problems. There are extra hints in our how-to document and also many videos on YouTube to help With the right tools, advice and components this is a job most people can do in around 30mins Please note you will need basic tools like small screwdrivers, q-tips, metholated spirits (for cleaning moving surfaces) and if your deck is really jammed a heatgun/hairdryer! The kit contains: 1 x quality reproduction BSR cartridge with 2-sided diamond stylus (stylus is ST/ST, if you need ST/78 please ask) 1 x new metric mounting screw (replaces the hard to find British BA6 screw) 2 x screw finishing covers (in case you damage one and need to remove it again) 1 x 10g tube lithium grease (sealed, pierce to use) 1 x 2ml light machine oil (sealed, pierce to use) 2 x Isopropyl wipes 2 x cartridge setup tools (plastic protractor and scales) 1 x replacement tonearm pressure spring 1 x magnifying lens to assist with the fiddly stuff 1 x detailed 14 page how-to document with 21 detailed step-by-step photos (a link to the files will be provided). IMPORTANT NOTE : whilst this cartridge kit is targeted at the deck in use on the Weltron 2005 and 2007 it will fit 90% of BSR turntables with a wide headshell from the 60s and 70s. A notable exception is the very slim headshell shown with a superimposed cross in this advert and we believe this was scheduled to be used in the Weltron but rarely was. Another consideration is that due to the lack of availability of suitable cartridges owners often fitted a different, more readily available BSR record player in place of the original. As mentioned above unless it's the slim headshell this shouldn't be any problem but it is incumbent on the purchaser to check suitability before purchase. Feel free to contact us for advice on the particular BSR in your Weltron if you have any doubts - we welcome all your enquiries Please note that due to current conditions and restrictions international items will take between 25-30 days at least to arrive at their destination.
