Description: Up for bid is a wonderful suite of three etchings by the acclaimed American artist BRUCE NAUMAN. Utilizing his iconic approach to linguistics and wordsmith, Nauman has entitled this rare triptych tcejorP lainnetneciuqseS nisnocsiW, which reads as Wisconsin Sesquicentennial Project when mirrored. Published by Andrew Balkin Editions (Verona, WI) as part of the Wisconsin Sesquicentennial Portfolio, this signed and numbered triptych was created in 2001 as an edition of 125 and 30 AP copies. Other participating artists included Andrew Balkin, Nancy Burkert, Warrington Colescott, Michelle Grabner, Susan Hunt-Wulkowicz, Martin Levine, Munio Makuuchi, Frances Myers, Gladys Nilsson, Ed Paschke, Fred Stonehouse, Tom Uttech, John Wilde, and William Wiley. These hard-ground, dry-point etchings are printed on a soft, buff colored German etching paper, and measure 22.5" x 31" each. The approximate plate dimensions measure 10"x12" (nisnocsiW) ; 18"x24" ( lainnetneciuqseS); 10"x12" ( tcejorP). Nauman signed, dated and numbered the nisnocsiW sheet in pencil, and is numbered 111/125 as shown. The other sheets are numbered and dated only. Please note this triptych can be hung horizontally or as a vertical stack. All three sheets are in excellent condition with minimal edge wear; excellent plate impressions with no tears or stains, and have never been framed.
