I do not use stock photos or photos of other people’s items.This is a rare, possibly unique, survivor of the glory days of transatlantic cruising. It is a "2" size (4" tall) table or room service pitcher by Milan Italy silversmith Broggi (founded 1818) for the "Italian Line" (Italia di Navigazione SpA) after World War II. Prior to WWII the line used the crown of Savoy in their logo. After WWII they used the crown depicted on this pitcher. The same "Italia" logo was used on First Class table and silver ware for all of their Ocean Liners including Andrea Doria 1953-56, Augustus 1952-1976, Giulio Cesare 1951-1973 and others. I found some dinner plates, some knives and an egg cup with this logo but no silver pitchers. The Andrea Doria has been salvaged at various times including a First Class Bank safe in the 1980s. Framed authenticated bank notes are plentiful. With so many ships It is amazing how few "Italia" items remain. As an added bonus, this pitcher has the distinct Gio Ponti handle design. A Ponti room service milk jug and tea pot with no logos is offered for $850. Tea sets are offered for $2000 to $6000. Significant flaws not depicted in the photos are described here-with, minor flaws and normal wear are not. Unless the item is described as new, assume there will be minor flaws or wear commensurate with a used item of given age.
