Description: A handsome architectural study by British artist Charles Reginald Aston (1832–1908). The drawing is executed in graphite on ivory colored wove paper and it measures 6 3/4 x 9 inches, it is tipped to a pasteboard backing that measures 11 3/4 x 15 1/4 inches. The artist has inscribed it with title and date; "Rowington Church Interior looking East, July 1850". It is also signed with Aston's estate stamp, the "R.I" after his name indicates that he was a fellow of the Royal Institute. Aside from some surface handling grime and worn corners, the drawing is in excellent condition and ready for framing. In the U.S, there are works by Charles Aston included in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY and the Yale Center for British Art. The drawing depicts the center aisle of St. Laurence's Church in Rowington, Warwickshire.
