The copyright is likely associated with a letter by Duveen, included in facsimile, expressing farewell wishes to the Gainsborough masterpiece portrait Blue Boy that Huntington had recently acquired. CONDITION NOTES: FINE. One small, possibly removable stain on front cover, else pristine. Glassine dust wrapper chipped and aged. VERY GOOD box. Book itself is exceptionally bright and fresh with no aging or handling evident. All glassines flat and bright. A mint condition copy. BINDING: Full ivory buckram with tooled titles in gilt on front. Deckled edges..A rare fine press catalogue of Henry E. Huntington's matchless collection of British Grand Manner portraiture. Issued a few years prior to the opening of the Huntington Library, Museum and Gardens to the public in 1928. The descriptions in the catalogue go further than gallery labels and tell history of the acquisitions. The photo offset reproduction, paper, and cream buckram binding all represent the best available book craft near the peak of the fine book mania of the 1920s. .Our store is pretty close to The Huntington, and we've yet to see another publication by their press that comes close to expense or quality of this folio.
