About the Design In 1967 the line to Southampton and Bournemouth was electrified, and a fleet of existing coaches was rebuilt to provide the new services. Internally they were given a more modern appearance by the widespread use of Formica panelling, and by a new design of fabric, featuring a blue/green check pattern.
