The thick skull of the helmet is covered on the exterior in black felt. The brim is trimmed with synthetic material. The front of the comb is affix with chrome plated metal crest. The front of the helmet is fitted with blackened Night Helmet Badge-Plate. The 8-Pointed Starburst, indicating issue during the Reign of Queen Elizabeth II, which began in 1952. The interior of the plate has KENT CONSTABULARY surrounding the coat of arms of Kent: A Horse Rampant above a banner reading INVICTA, Latin for "Unconquered.". The interior of the helmet is inserted with green liner, leather sweatband ,black lacquered-leather chinstrap with black lacquered metal buckle. The leather sweatband is hand inscribed: PS5298ELDRIDGE. The Night Bobby Police helmets with the blackened Night Badge-Plates are scarce and really seen for sale since they were use only during night duty. CONDITION: This rare helmet is in very good condition. There are no dents, scratches, or other defects. The black lacquered leather chinstrap is dry with the surface cracks in the lacquer.
