It has the dark "flow blue" transferware and was manufactured by British Anchor pottery. It features a dark "flow blue" floral boarder and depicts an old tower and stone bridge over a stream . This pattern was initially introduced in 1814 and was derived from a printed illustration from the book, "Views of Rome and Italy". Please review all photos and condition description below. Flow Blue: Flow Blue is a style of stoneware or porcelain that originated in the Victorian era (1830-40s). Its main characteristic was that the blue printed design (transferware) was encouraged to flow or seep into the glaze during the firing process. Maker Mark: Printed blue mark which reads, "Registration Applied For... Old Tower... Staffordshire England. The logo of a crown over a double circle with a standing lion in the center and laurels that crawl up the sides. An impressed mark which reads, "British Anchor" can be seen.
