Description: This auction is for a custom night light featuring an original finish vintage matte bay Breyer Running mare and foal. These models are in excellent vintage condition with little to no wear. The mare is dressed with a REPLICA blue ribbon sticker, visually similar to those used with this model’s original release. The pair is mounted on a solid, hand-milled Kentucky walnut base that has been sanded and stained, and lined with dark green velvet. The mare is equipped with a new, unused, 6’ corded night light that illuminates with a rotating switch attached to the cord (foal does not light up). The bulb may be replaced with a small, C7 night light bulb when it eventually goes out (no spares included). Warnings and recommendations for light are included on cord tag. This custom light provides a nice, soft warm glow that can be appreciated by any young, horse-loving sleeper. It would also be a great addition to any western-style living area or vintage Breyer collection. Some items I will list as available to sell through the global shipping program. Short artist bio: I have collected Breyer horses for quite some time (my first models were a classic Arab family, a gift from my parents when I was around 4 years old). I also grew up riding horses in the KY 4-H program. As a kid, I made saddles and bridles for my models to compete with in a yarn ring on my foyer floor. In 2003, I graduated from the University of Kentucky with a minor in Art Studio. In 2010, I learned that customizing Breyer models was a legitimate hobby, and began to seek out methods used by current artists in the field. While I’ve done (and will still occasionally create) drastic customs with a more realistic finish, I prefer to create models that I’d like to add to my own OF collection. I especially love vintage finishes. I work full time in neurology at Cincy Children’s and am very active in my family life, but when I can, I set aside time for my art. This is all to say that I do this for fun, to see what my capabilities are, and to serve as a creative outlet.
