Description: ELCAR Model 8 Automobile Radiator Thermostat made by Boyce Moto Meter Company of Long Island City, NY. Thermostat in very good condition, has beveled glass on both sides, intricately carved silver tone design on both sides, screws on both sides have engraved leaf design, metal is still shiny with some scratches, interior cavity is clean, original washers and nuts are still attached. Elcar was built by the Elkhart Carriage and Harness Manufacturing Company of Elkhart, Indiana in the 1920’s. Item will ship with original tag that had been tied on the thermostat, (sadly in 2 pieces). Thermostat was passed down to my husband by his Grandfather who was a car mechanic in Philadelphia in the 20/30s. Measurements in photos, item has been inspected, no glaring issues were found, typical age shown, please ask questions if you have any, car parts are not my specialty and I may have omitted information a collector would want to know.
