There is some age tanning, and some tape along the spine. The next 2 books are very good to like new.Tales of Ten Worlds was compiled in 1962, this is a Signet 1st edition 1973, 11th printing undated, 252 pages and a 1987 introduction by the author. The Wind From the Sun was compiled in 1972, this is a Signet 1st edition 1972, 9th printing, with a 1987 introduction by the author. The 1st set of Arthur C. Clarke early books are standalone novels. They are the 2nd to 5th full novels that Arthur C. Clarke wrote. Prelude to Space was written in 1951 and this is a 1970 Lancer Books 1st paperback edition, 1st printing. It has a Post-Apollo Preface by the author dated August 1969, 173 pages. It then has a Forward to the 1962 Edition by the author, followed by a 1969 note from the editors on how his predictions outstript science fiction. It's a good reading copy, unmarked, with some age tanning. Page 7/8 within the preface came loose but its the only one.Clarke's next novel is The Sands of Mars, also written in 1951 and this is a 1967 Harbrace Paperbound Book 1st edition, 1st printing, 218 pages, with a forward dated 1966 by the author. It's in very good condition, unmarked and still tight.Islands in the Sky, written in 1952, is a Signet Books 1960 1st paperback edition, 15th printing, 256 pages. It has a Preface to the 1952 edition and an Introduction to the 1987 Edition by the author. It has some age tanning with some cover wear.Childhood's End is the iconic wildly popular novel he wrote in 1953. This is a 1953 1st edition Ballantine Books, 53rd printing, 1987, with cover art by Stanislaw Fernandes. It's like new. The 2nd set of Clarke's early books are also standalone novels. I read them and they are standalone stories albeit in the same universe. The central character McKie is introduced in the 2nd short story, and he is the protagonist in these 2 novels. Both are Berkley Books 1st paperback editions. Whipping Star was 1st published by Berkley in 1977, this is the 21st printing, 1986, 188 pages. The Dosadi Experiment 1st Berkley printing was 1978, this is the 15th printing, 1986. The Book of Frank Herbert is a Daw Books 1st edition 1973, 3rd printing, 189 pages, with cover art by Jack Gaughan. The Worlds of Frank Herbert is a Berkley Books edition, 4th printing 1983, 247 pages, cover artist not credited. These Frank Herbert stand-alone science fiction novels were written between 1956 and 1987. Frank Herbert, like many science fiction writers in the '50s, first published stories within magazines. The 1st published novel Frank Herbert wrote is The Dragon in the Sea in 1956, this is the 6th Avon Books printing, February 1970, 189 pages. The Green Brain is his 5th novel, written in 1965 debuting in Amazing Stories magazine. This is the 1966 1st Ace book edition and printing, 160 pages. I show an image of the 1st page to show you a glimpse of how imaginative and what a wordsmith he is. The Eyes of Heisenberg is his 6th non-Dune book, written in 1965, this is a Berkley Books 17th printing, November 1986, 158 pages. The cover artists aren't credited in these 3 early novels, this was before his acclaim warranted big-buck cover artists. The Dune books were written between 1965 and 1985. The Heaven Makers is his 7th non-Dune book, written in 1968, this is a Ballantine Books 7th printing, August 1987, 230 pages, with cover art by Darrell K. Sweet. After reading the Dune series I aspired to collect all of Frank Herbert's books and had to buy some online that were scarce and not in new condition. They may have been reprinted since. The Heaven Makers has a section of the back cover edge torn off as shown and the other books have wear as shown. The next stand-alone Frank Herbert novels were written between 1968 and 1972. I bought the 1st 3 new and read them once. The Santaroga Barrier was written in 1968 and this is the 1st Ace edition, 1st printing, June 1988, 255 pages. Soul Catcher was written in 1972 and this is a Berkley 7th printing 1984, 246 pages. The Godmakers was written in 1968 and this is a Berkley edition, 1985, 188 pages. Hellstrom's Hive was written in 1972, this is a Bantam 1974 edition, 7th printing, 312 pages. It is a good reading copy in somewhat worn condition. Four standalone books by the master. The 1st 3 are stand-alone science fiction novels written between 1954 and 1986 and are the last non-Dune books he wrote. Direct Descent was written in 1980, an expanded version of part of a story he wrote in 1954 for Astounding Science Fiction, "Pack Rat Planet". It has many black and white illustrations. The White Plague was written in 1982 and this is an Ace 1987 2nd printing, 502 pages. The last book written by Frank Herbert, in 1986, was a collaboration with his son Brian Herbert, Man of Two Worlds. This is an Ace Books 1987 edition, 1st printing, 426 pages, with cover art by John Schoenherr. Frank Herbert died later the same year it was 1st published in hardback, 1986. I include also a reprint of the 1st novel of Frank Herbert's ever published, Under Pressure, originally titled The Dragon in the Sea. I don't know why it was retitled. It's not even listed in bookseriesinorder.com and it was subsequently reprinted under the original name. It's a 1st Ballantine printing 1974. It has cool cover art front and back by John Berkey. It alone has some writing within, on the inside cover, a couple of names and phone numbers. Four standalone books by the master, including his very 1st and very last that he had published. Starting in 2010, a few more books by Frank Herbert were published from "lost" or just never before published manuscripts of his that were found. Without Me You're Nothing: The Essential Guide to Home Computers is the 1st Pocket Books edition, 1st printing paperback. It came out in 1981, the same year as God Emperor of Dune. Maybe he was using a computer to write his books. He wrote 4 other non-fiction books, 1 about Dune and one autobiographical. The book is tight and doesn't seem read, I didn't read it, I at one point wanted to own all of Frank Herbert's books. 304 pages. The 4 Queen of Angels books by Greg Bear, one SIGNED by him, is a complete set within the same universe. Queen of Angels is a 1st Warner paperback edition, March 1991, 4th printing, 420 pages with cover art by Bob Eggleton. Heads is a 1st Tor paperback edition, June 1992, a 1st printing, 151 pages, with cover art also by Bob Eggleton. Moving Mars is a 1st Tor hardback edition November 1993, 1st printing, 448 acid-free pages, with jacket art by Wayne Barlowe. I got it at a signing that same month where Greg Bear signed it to me as shown, including his doodle of "moving Mars". Tangents has 9 stories, Warner 1990, 260 pages. I bought these new and read them once. Complete Greg Bear The Way 3-book series are published by Tor Books. The 1st in the series, Legacy, came out in 1995 as a prequel to the other two. It's a 1st edition, 1st printing, 349 pages with jacket art by Bob Eggleton, like new. I put the dust jacket into an archival sleeve as soon as I got it. The paperback book Eon came out in 1986, is 504 pages, not a 1st printing, with cover art by Ron Miller. Judging by the spine crease, it seems that was read only part way. The final book, Eternity, is a 1st Tor edition, 1st printing, 2007, 403 pages. It was originally printed by Warner books in 1988. No credit is given as to the cover artist. The Jupiter Project is a 2-book storyline by Gregory Benford. Jupiter Project is a 1st Avon Eos edition, 1st printing 1998, 195 pages. Eater was published in 2000, this is a 1st Eos paperback 2001, 3rd printing, 373 pages. Matter's End, the volume of short stories by the author was compiled in 1994 and published by Bantam Spectra. I bought these Rudy Rucker books new and read them once. Here are the 1st 3 of the 4 "Ware" books, missing is the last book "Realware". The Ware books are all standalone goodreads, all 1st Avon Books editions with cover art by Raquel Jaramillo. Software is the 6th printing, 187 pages, 1987. They "ware" books really are standalone books, note the the 3rd book was written 10 years after the 2nd. Paperback Diamond Mask is a Del Rey Ballantine book published in arrangement with Knopf, 6th printing, 437 pages. Magnificat is 431 pages. This is an excellent trilogy.
