Description: Book Belongs To E. M. Forster - Paris in the Past from Fouquet to Daimier by Pierre Courthion, 1957. This is E. M Forster's own copy, with his famously-simple book label. Much of Forster's library was sold when the author moved from his family home at West Hackhurst in Abinger Hammer, Surrey in 1946. After taking residence in King's College, Cambridge (with a much reduced library), he continued to give books away as he acquired new ones. Most of what remained at was sold in 1971 by Heffer and Sons. Included as a book that gives the history of Forster's collection and proof that this book was part of that collection. The book itself is in Very Fine condition. Aside from the bookplate and the penciled price presumably added when sold by Heffer and Sons, there are no other markings, tears or dog ears. The cover is like new with sharp corners and no signs of rubbing. The cover does have a few small tears and general wear to the edges. There's also some bubbling of the original protective gloss coating on the cover near the spine. Would make a great edition to someone's collection. The cover is beautiful, would make a great display piece.
