You will not find a matched pair of these models, this clean and documented, anywhere!My wife and I purchased these incredible guitars one at a time as he they came out from the builder John Bolin & Bill Rich of C&R Guitars through Steve Kahn, who back then was a personal friend and Bob Segar's guitar tech. Both guitars were serial #14 with the COA paperwork, original gig bags, and straps. We just had to have them. They have been in a temperature controlled room and stored in our home for almost 35 years now. We only pulled them out for a 2 displays of our guitar collection at the Arlington Guitar Show in Texas, and the Michigan Guitar Show, here in Detroit that my business partner wife Marcia and I promoted and sponsored for 3 decades years here in Michigan.A very rare and way cool set of custom hand made guitars from John Bolin that were a limited run of 50 Batman and only 42 Jokers. Bolin has by the way made guitars for ZZ Top, Steve Miller, and many more. The guitars have also appeared on the TV show 'Pawn Stars' as well. These guitars were released as a very limited edition run by DC Comics and had full licencing rights to produce. The Batman model came out in 1989 the same year as the movie of the same name, directed by Tim Burton and starring Jack Nicholson and Michael Keaton.Both guitars play like butter with very low action and superb tone from the high quality pickups. I had to put fresh strings on Batman but the Joker still has it's original strings.Where we come from these guitars would be called mint. I am listing as excellent as there are several manufacturer hard to see or notice imperfections in the finishes as well as a few vey light slight blemishes and eye straining scratch or two. Also one of the explorer style tips on the Joker had to be touched up by our master luthier and you would be hard pressed to notice it. I also just noticed on the bottom edge of Batman a spec of a blemish that could be so easily made to disappear.Maybe I am being a little anal in my description but you are spending a lot of hard earned money and i want you to know exactly what you are getting. The average Joe or passer by would think 'these guitars look new!', not 35 years old!NOTE: That little red button on the Joker has him laugh insanely and loudly controlled by the volume knob. We will add a video of that in the next day or 2. Also, I have never seen a Joker guitar strap but some how or an other we ended up with 2 Batman straps which are both included.
