Description: Sold within the U.S.A. only. NO INTERNATIONAL SALES Wild Harvested Blue Chanterelles, Polyozellus sp., are an edible, as well as a medicinal fungus. However, the mushroom is not a true chanterelle, but a complex of fungi first described in 1899. The fruiting bodies are blue- to purple-colored clusters of vase- or spoon-shaped caps, with veiny wrinkles on the underside which run down the length of the stem fusing at the base. The spore-producing surface (the hymenophore) is located on the underside of the caps. The flesh is soft but breaks easily. The spore deposit is white. The genus name, Polyozellus, is derived from the Greek poly meaning many, and oz, meaning branch. Multiplex means "in many pieces," referring to the compound nature of the fruiting body.
