Description: Ancient Energy, Modern Healing These stones are available in a range of OVERALL order weights! We have many, many of these stones available (not just what you see pictured). Please note that you will most likely receive MULTIPLE STONES to reach your TOTAL ordered weight! If we have a singular stone in stock that reaches your ordered weight, we will provide it instead of multiples (the majority of these stones average 1-3 pounds)! Each order is individually weighed to ensure you receive exactly what you order! For example, if you order 1 LB, you may receive multiple stones that equal up to 1 LB of total obsidian. Thank you for your business and support! This unique obsidian, forged in the fiery depths of 19th/20th-century iron furnaces in Southeastern Ohio, offers a captivating blend of natural beauty and industrial history. Born from the earth and shaped by human ingenuity, this artisanal product carries the energy of both worlds. Iron furnaces dotted around this area helped uphold a divided nation and even forge the USS Monitor in 1862; the iron produced alongside this byproduct obsidian was used for all manner of materials- ranging from household goods to war supplies. At the time, Ohio lead the nation in iron production. The origin of these particular stones is around Blackfork/Oak Hill, Ohio- areas once booming in the iron and brick industries. Many iron workers in the area were paid in “Scrip,” a form of compensation that could only be used at a company store. Alongside the growing scarcity of local iron, this form of indentured servitude lead to the eventual downfall of many iron/brick furnaces in the area as late at 1916. Many of these pieces of obsidian are NOT PERFECT. They are not the modern, wholesale perfection many people are used to; some of these stones contain impurities: iron deposits, sediment, and slag masses still attached (similar to the last picture). But these imperfections are what further entrench the natural beauty and power of this obsidian over the wholesale norm you often see for sale. These stones upheld a divided nation at war and supported countless industrial families; this very obsidian cast protection amongst not only those indentured families- but the entire country as well. They are the literal and figurative glasses looking back into a bygone era of both Appalachia and Industry... imperfections and all. Spiritual and Healing Properties: Grounding and Protection: Obsidian is often used for shielding the wearer from negative energies. Clarity and Insight: It can enhance mental clarity, intuition, and decision-making abilities. Transformation, Intimacy, and Release: Obsidian can help in releasing old patterns and beliefs, facilitating personal growth and transformation. For the Collector and Craftsman: Beyond its spiritual properties, this obsidian appeals to collectors and craftsmen alike: Unique Aesthetic: Its dark, glassy appearance, often with intricate patterns, makes it a visually striking addition to any collection. Versatile Tool: Its sharp edges and durability make it a valuable tool for primitive crafting and toolmaking. As a piece of history and a tool for spiritual growth, this obsidian offers a unique connection to the past and the present. Sincerely, Shade Tree Americana
