Description: This is a custom 1/6 scale 12" figure commemorating one of the most colorful characters in history, Black Caesar (18th Century African pirate-died 1718). Caesar was by traditional accounts an African tribal war chieftain. He was well known for his size, immense strength and high intelligence. Caesar was very skilled at evading capture from the many slave traders that came to the area. He was finally captured with twenty of his warriors when a man showed him a watch and promised more presents if Caesar and his men could only help unload the presents from the ship. Once on board the warriors were surrounded and captured. They did not go quietly but overwhelming odds and weaponry finally caused them to accept their capture. Once secured in the bottom of the ship the slavers made there way out of the area. One of the sailors aboard the ship befriended Caesar. The sailor was the only one Caesar would accept food and water from. As the ship approached the coast of Florida, they ran into a bad storm. Once the ship was hung up on the Florida Reef, the sailor snuck below and released Caesar. The two armed themselves and demanded one of the longboats be filled with ammunition and supplies. The storm propelled the two friends ashore. They are thought to be the only survivors of the doomed ship. For a time Caesar and his companion were able to raid passing ships by pretending to be shipwrecked sailors. They would row out to their rescuers, pull their weapons and demand supplies and cargo or they would blow up the ship. Over the years this duo amassed quite a treasure which they kept buried around Elliott Key. The two friends eventually quarrelled over a woman they had taken from one of the ships, and Caesar killed his friend. Caesar was able to build a crew of pirates and raid ships on the open sea. Caesar also became a member of Blackbeard's crew for a time. Blackbeard's end came in a battle with Lt. Robert Maynard. Once Blackbeard was killed Caesar tried to blow the ships powder magazine but was unsuccessful. Even though he fought ferociously Caesar was finally taken captive by Maynard and his crew. Black Caesar was tried for piracy in Williamsburg, Virginia and hanged. One of three islands located north of Key Largo, Caesar's Rock is named after this legendary pirate. This figure is designed mostly for display and would make a nice addition to any collection.stand included. sold as is Please note the following-when a figure is a custom figure that means it is not a licensed product,or "official" but something the customizer did by combining figures and accessories from different makers and toy releases to come up with the custom figure or figures. I started customizing figures a few years back because I couldn't find more than a handful of "official" releases and unable to find figures of people I wanted to collect. I checked in to the market of custom figures. Most of the custom figures available back then cost several hundred dollars, so, I started doing my own. Because I needed to support my new hobby, I started selling some custom figures. My prices reflect my acquisition cost, time involved, and some profit. Thank you for the look, enjoy shopping!
