Description: Bing & Grondahl Royal Copenhagen Figurine "Girl with Kitten / Little Mother” # 1779Figurine #1779 This is "Little Mother" and features a young girl with long braids holding a cat in her shirt. EUC : No chips, crack, crazing or scratchesBing & Grøndahl was a Danish porcelain manufacturer founded in 1853 by the sculptor Frederik Vilhelm Grøndahl and merchant brothers Meyer & Jacob Hermann Bing. The trademark backstamp for Bing & Grøndahl (B&G) porcelains is the three towers derived from the Coat of Arms of Copenhagen. In 1987, Bing and Grondahl (B&G) merged with Royal Copenhagen, the other leading Danish porcelain manufacturer. Shortly thereafter, all figurines in production were given NEW three digit model number, and the B&G trademark was replaced with the Royal Copenhagen trademark. The figurine listed here was discontinued before 1988; therefore, they have the OLD numbers and were never assigned NEW numbers; and have the B&G Trademark. The technique used for this figurine is underglaze technique. The colors of the paint used for this spectacular line of figurines is Lapis for the blue and KT Gold for the brown. That is why there are no brush strokes found, the precious metals and semi precious stone colors meld with the porcelain. B&G has been manufacturing lovely figurines for many years. Their pieces are collected and treasured worldwide.
