Why the Bible? All Scripture is from the NASB unless otherwise noted. Why not the Quran (or Koran) and Islam or the Hindu Vedas or any one of a myriad of religions? After all, in the United States “religious freedom” and “toleration” are politically correct – Right? Sure, but are they spiritually, correct? Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6 (NKJ) So, what makes Him right? How do we know the Bible is correct, accurate, and the Word of God? How do we know that Jesus (Yeshua in Hebrew) is Who He said He was, God in the flesh! John 8:58 . . . Prophecy, that’s how! “Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no other, I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My Pleasure,’ . . .Indeed I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it, I will also do it.” Isaiah 46:9-11 (NKJ) In other words, He will tell us history before it happens! Not only does God tell us history before it happens through His prophets, but history tells us how and when those events actually occurred. Well, maybe it’s just coincidental that thousands of Bible prophecies have come true! Pinpointed accuracies so precise as to name which emperors would do what hundreds of years before they lived, and cities by name, doomed to destruction hundreds of years before they existed. Hundreds of prophecies about Jesus, some over one thousand years before His birth! Coincidences? Really? Don’t let your disbelief get in the way of your common sense! Before we go any further, a word about psychics. Don’t get psychics and fortunetellers confused with prophecy! Psychics, fortunetellers, divination, witchcraft, and astrology; the occult, use the powers of darkness – the devil, Satan! Keep far away from these! They will give Satan and his demons of darkness a foothold in your life! Prophecy sets the Bible and the Judeo-Christian faith apart from all other religions because no other religion has it! The Bible is almost one-third prophecy! It has never been wrong, has always been 100% accurate, and the margin of error is Zero! Biblical prophecy is absolute confirmation not only that God exists but is also impervious to rejection. Bible prophesy reveals God’s purpose for mankind; it identifies the Messiah and informs us of the Antichrist so that no one need be deceived. Unfortunately, millions will be deceived because they’re too busy thinking up reasons not to believe the truth of the Bible instead of simply reading it and believing it! When Jesus was being questioned by Pontius Pilate He replied “…For this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” John 18:37b, 38a An age-old question. Truth is intimidating and disconcerting. You think you want to find it, but you’re not really sure, and the closer you get to it, you find yourself rather reluctant to continue searching it out, especially if it goes against what you thought was truth! What is truth? God and His Word is Truth! The Dead Sea Scrolls (which are about 900 years older than our oldest manuscripts) have proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that the Bible is absolutely accurate. Jesus meant exactly what he said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” Matthew 24:35 (NKJ) The first thing that Satan does is to try to get us to doubt the word of God! (Unfortunately, most poor souls fall for his lies!) “Indeed, has God said, you shall not eat from any tree of the garden?” Genesis 3:1 He always twists the scriptures, trying to confuse the issue! All the cults say the Bible is inaccurate because they all have the same author behind them: Satan! Just as prophecy is unique to the Bible, it is also unique to Jesus. No prophecies foretold the coming of Buddha, Muhammad, Zoroaster, Confucius, or any other “religious” leader! “There are more than 300 prophecies in the Old Testament which identify Israel’s Messiah, centuries before His coming. Bible prophecy mentions numerous, specific criteria which had to be fulfilled by the Messiah. (Psalms 16:10, 49:15 and the amazing Psalm 22 to mention just a few) The fulfillment of these prophecies in minute detail in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus is absolute corroboration that He is the Messiah! “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4;12 (NIV) He was also seen by over 500 people shortly after His resurrection, affirming He did in fact rise from the dead. 1 Corinthians 15:5-8 Most of whom were still living when Paul wrote his first letters to the Galatians about 50 A.D. and the Corinthians, about 53 A.D., 17 to 20 years later! · Your Bible has been patiently waiting for you to redeem it from that dark, dusty place it has been kept for so long. It’s been waiting for you to dust it off, open it up and read the words of truth and life it contains, so you’ll draw closer and come to know your creator! Why this book? There is a lot of confusion about the Bible and Christianity itself. Mainly because of man-made doctrines, plus the fact that many people get most of their theology from watching preachers on TV, instead of studying the Bible themselves. A lot of folks look at the Bible as overwhelming and perhaps a little intimidating. I figure some might be more prone to pick up a small book loaded with scripture as well as a few scriptural guidelines that might help them rightly divide the Word of Truth of the Bible, and maybe, just maybe they might get on the right path, get inspired to read the Bible, wake up and smell the coffee, and save their souls from Hell! There are approximately 200 Christian denominations in the U. S. and a staggering 33,000 globally! As well as several cults that appear to be Christian and mislead people to their doom! You might feel some of the things I say in this book are offensive, especially if they go against things you’ve been taught. They are definitely not meant to be! We have all received misinformation about one thing or another during our lives, but having the incorrect instructions about your faith and your soul could be devastating through all eternity! Millions of lost souls pour into Hell because most people are afraid of offending someone! I believe if your house is on fire, you’d rather know about it, even though you might take offense about being awakened in the middle of the night! Then there are the hucksters and charlatans who tell you what you want to hear and convince you to send them as much money as they can squeeze out of you, making a fortune in the process, while owning 2 or 3 multi-million-dollar jet planes, owning huge mansions, and confusing you even more! I see deceived Christians, confused Christians, sickly Christians, weak Christians, emotionally distraught Christians, Christians whose families are torn apart, destitute Christians, Christians hooked on drugs, alcohol and/or illicit sex, and Christians that have died before their time! Most people don’t realize that living life apart from the way God told us to live, has its repercussions in your daily life! Your Christian faith and your daily life are tied together, they’re not separate! That men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun that there is no one besides Me. I am the LORD, and there is no other, The One forming light and creating darkness, Causing well-being and creating calamity; I am the LORD who does all these. Isaiah 45:6,7 People wonder why there is so much pain, suffering and disease in the world if God is love! Because we live in a fallen world ever since Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate of the forbidden fruit, buying the serpent’s story of “You can become like God”! So, God is not the one to blame; it is us! All of us! For continuing to disobey the statutes of God, without repentance and without asking for forgiveness, since most of us were taught that the Laws of God have been annulled! So, if you are growing weary of having one miserable day after another where nothing seems to go right, stop beating yourself up and start living your life God’s way! Unfortunately, many Christians go to church, get their “Sunday fix”, thinking that pleases God, ignoring His Sabbath Day, His Appointed Times, and His Statutes and Commandments and then go on living the rest of the week as they always had. “This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me. But in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the precepts of men. Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.” Mark 7:6b-8 Read Deuteronomy 27 & 28 and you’ll understand why there is so much pain, suffering and disease! We see several churches in the United States appearing to be filled to capacity on Sunday with about 5,000 or more congregants. With numbers like that, a person tends to think, “This must be the right place to be. They can’t all be wrong, can they?” “Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it.
